Tommy Kelly (actor)
Thomas Francis Kelly (April 6, 1925 – January 26, 2016), professionally known as Tommy Kelly, was an American child actor. He played the title role in '' The Adventures of Tom Sawyer'' in 1938 based on Mark Twain's novel of the same name. Early life and career Kelly was born in the Bronx, the son of Nora and Michael Kelly, a fireman, in humble circumstances. He had twelve siblings. Kelly's grandparents, all four, were from Ireland. He began his acting career at the age of twelve when he was selected to play Tom Sawyer in the 1938 movie '' The Adventures of Tom Sawyer'', the first Technicolor adaption of Mark Twain's classic 1876 novel. Approximately 25,000 boys had auditioned for that role and it is said that famous producer David O. Selznick handpicked Kelly for the role. Despite Kelly's earning good critical reviews for his performance, the film was only a poor financial success. Thomas Kelly (New Zealand Politician)
Thomas Kelly (1830 – 20 September 1921) was a 19th-century Member of Parliament in Taranaki, New Zealand. He represented the Town of New Plymouth electorate from to 1879, and then the (renamed) New Plymouth electorate from to 1884, when he was defeated. He then became a member of the Legislative Council from 1892 to 1913. In 1893 Kelly, a new councillor was at the centre of a drama that led to the passing of the Women's suffrage bill into law. Premier Seddon had expected to stop the bill in the upper house, but found that one more vote was needed. Kelly had left himself paired in favour of the measure, but Seddon obtained his consent by wire to change his vote. Tom Kelly (Gaelic Footballer)
Tom Kelly is a former Gaelic footballer from County Laois. His club is St Joseph's. He usually played at centre back for Laois and in 2003 won an All Stars Award and was part of the Laois team that won the Leinster Senior Football Championship title for the first time since 1946. Kelly twice travelled to Australia for the International Rules Series, where he was Ireland's player of the series in 2005. With St Joseph's, Kelly picked up two Laois Senior Football Championship medals. In January 2011, Kelly was forced to retire due to a neck injury he sustained the year before. Thomas Kelly (2 October 1885 – 9 April 1916) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Grimsby Town and Glossop as a half back. Personal life Kelly was married with six children and predominantly lived in Stockport, working at the gasworks. Thomas Kelly (1882–1959) was a rugby union international who represented England from 1906 to 1908. He also captained his country to a 19–0 victory over France at the Stade Colombes in Paris on 1 January 1908. Thomas Raymond Kelly (June 4, 1893 – January 17, 1941) was an American Quaker educator. He taught and wrote on the subject of mysticism. His books are widely read, especially by people interested in spirituality. Kelly was born in 1893 in Chillicothe, Ohio, to a Quaker family (members of the Religious Society of Friends). The branch of Quakerism in which he was raised (Wilmington Yearly Meeting) had been influenced by the 19th century revivalists and worship services were similar to other low-church Protestant groups. He graduated in 1913 from Wilmington College as a chemistry major. Then he went to Haverford College just outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he came under the mentoring of Rufus Jones, a prominent Friend.
